Why have you chosen to teach the Person-Centred Approach?
We believe there is space and a need to offer a Person Centred training programme, and whilst it is one approach to counselling and psychotherapy, we feel it is relevant in an ever-changing world, and that it can guide various everyday relationships.
At the heart of the approach is a relationship characterised by genuineness (congruence), empathic understanding (empathy) and acceptance (unconditional positive regard), and we believe this kind of relationship can enable a person to become who they really are or would like to be.
Are your courses right for me?
Our courses may be right for you, if you are at a point in your life where you can meet the demands of the courses, and they are a 'good fit' for you. One of the key aims of our application and interview process is to establish both.
You do not need any previous knowledge and experience in counselling or counselling skills to be considered for the Certificate course, and this course provides sound preparation for the Diploma in Person Centred Counselling.
Will your courses qualify me to practice as a Counsellor?
Successful completion of the Diploma in Person Centred Counselling will qualify you to practice as a Counsellor, yet you will need to have achieved the Acorn Wells Certificate in Person Centred Counselling Skills & Theory, or equivalent.
Are your courses recognised by a professional body?
Our courses are new, yet we will apply for course recognition and accreditation in the near future. We will provide updates about this.
Can I study your courses if I do not want to become a Counsellor?
Our courses are not just for those who wish to become Counsellors - they are invaluable if you want to use counselling skills in other work areas, such as teaching, nursing, health or social work.
Our courses can enable you to increase your self-awareness, and develop your listening and responding skills within your personal relationships.
When can I apply for the Certificate course?
The application process for the Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling Skills & Theory is open now and you can contact us for the course booklet and application form. The closing date for applications is the 20th May 2018.
