Welcome, and thank you so much for visiting our website. We are an independent counselling training organisation within Hampshire, and we were established in January 2017 to offer a forward-thinking training programme within the Person Centred Approach.
We offer a Certificate level counselling course in Eastleigh, and a Person Centred Counselling Diploma. Our courses are open to anyone that meets the entry requirements, and we will deliver them with real energy and passion.
In line with our approach, we place an emphasis on personal development, and building a sound relationship with 'the client' - one which supports, appropriately challenges, and empowers the client.
Our training centre is located in Eastleigh in Hampshire, and provides good transport links from Winchester and Southampton. The centre caters for a range of physical health needs, and facilities include full disabled access, a lift, and wheelchair-accessible training rooms.
The Person Centred Approach
The Person Centred Approach was developed by Dr Carl Rogers, and it is a well-established approach to counselling and psychotherapy. It is based in a philosophy about people and human relationships, and we believe it is fundamental to any kind of helping relationship.
Rogers felt that a relationship characterised by genuineness (congruence), understanding (empathy) and acceptance (unconditional positive regard) enables a person to heal, grow and change, and the approach therefore relies heavily on the therapist's/helper's personality.
Training in the Person Centred Approach places a strong emphasis on personal development, including increasing awareness of who you are, how you feel, and how you relate to others, and developing self-acceptance.
Certificate level counselling course
Our Certificate in Person Centred Counselling Skills & Theory is a comprehensive, challenging and rewarding course, with 210 hours of training through group discussions, small group activities, pair work, lectures, and practicing counselling skills.
This course is ideal if you have a keen interest in supporting others, wish to use counselling skills in areas such as social work, nursing, teaching, caring or support work, wish to develop your listening and communication skills, and wish to progress into training to become a qualified Counsellor.
Our Certificate course is unique in that it offers a deeper exploration of the Person Centred attitudes of 'congruence', 'empathy' and 'unconditional positive regard', and our course activities have been specifically designed to reflect the role of a Person Centred helper.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to use counselling skills safely and ethically, and underpinned by the theory and philosophy of the Person Centred Approach. It will provide you with sound preparation for our Diploma course.
